What is a Birth Doula?
I provide emotional and physical care from pregnancy to birth as well as provide educational support, answering all your questions to the best of my ability. I advocate for your preferences during labor and delivery and I am there for you every step of the way!
Why Use a Birth Doula?
According to a Cochrane review published in 2017, continuous support during labor and delivery leads to:
- 25% decrease in Cesarean risk (39% decrease with a trained doula)
- 8% increase of having a spontaneous vaginal birth (15% increase with a trained doula)
- 10% decrease in the need for pain medication
- Shortened labors by 41 minutes on average
- 38% decrease in low Apgar scores
- 31% decrease in risk of an unsatisfactory birth experience
